Every beer on Top 100 Beers carries a single number: the Top 100 score. Here’s exactly how it works.
1. The editorial score
Our tasting panel scores each beer out of 100 on aroma, flavour, balance, mouthfeel, style accuracy and that hard-to-define “wow” factor. Freshness matters, so we re-taste regularly.
2. The community score
Once a beer has enough star ratings from readers, the community average is blended into its score. One visitor, one rating per beer per day — no ballot-stuffing.
3. Head-to-head
Our Head-to-Head game shows how often a beer wins against random rivals. It’s displayed on each beer page as a win rate — a fun sanity check on the rankings.
What never affects rankings
Advertising, affiliate commissions and sponsorships. Ever. If you think we got something wrong, nominate a beer or make your case in the comments.
